It doesn't look like much with all the leaves gone, but its a Bur Oak, with huge leaves and gargantuan acorns - my favorite oak tree. Anna hugged the tree repeatedly and said it talks to her, telling her how much it likes her.
The kiddos enthusiastically helped their dad digging the last bit of the hole (this was the ruckus going on when you called, Emily). They were even better at filling it in once the tree was installed, taking turns using their little shovels to fill their wee wheelbarrow, and gleefully dumping the dirt in.
I guess there's no way to get them that enthusiastic about picking up their toys...

Those are lovely heartwarming Family pictures,Jenn..they DO look happy little Gardeners. :o)and when the Acorns arrive they will have great fun making all sorts of things with them...I used to thread them and make a necklace...
Wow, it's so exciting you guys are getting started on the garden. We'll have to schedule some work/play dates to help. Digging holes is fun, as long as you can dig out the dirt faster than the kids push it back in.

Hey,at least your kids are enthused about nature and being outside. Hopefully they will be like that as long as possible. Fresh air does so much better than punching buttons on a video game..........

Can't believe how big Anna and Colin are. Think the Acorn tree is such a lovely idea. Richard and I couldn't get over how similar Luke and Colin look.
