What's in a Name?

We were driving to dinner last weekend, in the car with Emily and her boyfriend and Anna.

We started talking about Anna's Nana and Grandad, and asked her if she knew their last name (which happens to be DOWNWARD - an English name, but very uncommon in the US).

Auntie Emily said, "I'll give you a hint - its not your last name."

Anna said, "That's not a hint!"

Emily said, "OK, here's a good hint: its a direction."

I helpfully added, "It starts with the letter D."

Anna screwed up her face and said, "De-Left?"

We laughed all the way to Chuy's.

XXX Aunty Norma you should had stopped them, it was your god motherly duty!!!!

Oh,Paula, what can I say (through my laughter) I never realised it could be pronounced like that! well at least we know that you have a good sense of humour..what about ME! I went through my life with a name I didn't even own.. ETHEL! I got married as Norma ETHEL Jean!! when I found out (through applying for my Birth certificate) I asked "was I still married?" I was told I could please myself hahaha It's a nice name anyway..easy to remember and easy to spell! xx

You see Aunty Norma, that is just sooooo bizarre isn't it!!!! Like our Billy - his name is Andrew William but always got called "Bill" by nan and my dad so mum wound up calling him it as well so as not to confuse the poor little sod!!!!

By the way take it you chose to remain married to uncle Noel or is there something you'd like to share? .....

I have never read such funny stuff on anyone else's blog. ...

Bev (Mommy)and I were aware of Jenn's initials being JD which, at the time,in 1970, was an acronym for juvenile delinquent......but we hoped she might become a judge:-)

We thought about Calling Emily Veronica but that would give her initials nobody wants......

We left out Tamara as Steph's middle
name so as not to confuse everyone with STD :-)
And Paula..........you are sooooooo funny
