I think I have Seasonal Affective Disorder.

I know I live in Texas. But the season is depressing me. I came home this afternoon, and the kids and I were prisoners of the house.

"What fun thing do you want to do this afternoon?" I asked them, and they wanted to go to the park. It was 100+ degrees outside. I declined.

"But, Mommy, remember, our park is shaded with lots of trees," Anna said.

Its still too hot.

"Mommy, we could bring an umbrella to shade our eyes."

Then I tried to explain radiant heating.

Its too hot to go play outside, unless you go to the pool, and I don't have the energy or time to do that every day. Its too hot to take the dog for a jog (its 90 degrees by 9 am!). Its too hot for a bike ride. Its too hot to garden. And its not even August (our hottest month).

Instead of going outside (or watching TV or playing on the computer) the kids made a fort under the dining room table in the front room. After Anthony came home, I made the liquid cure for Southern Seasonal Affective Disorder.

White Peach Margaritas

2 cups sliced frozen white peaches (or not frozen, if you're desperate, like today)
3/4 cup tequila
1/3 cup triple sec
Juice of 1 large or 2 small limes
2 cups crushed ice
2 tbsp sugar

Blenderize until all your heat rash is forgotten....

(almost as good as Steph's margarita snowcones)

It's been terribly humid and uncomfortable here in Vegas, but I know we still aren't dealing with the humidity you have. When I have to work outside, I wear a cold wrap around my head or neck (the kind you soak in water and keep in the fridge), and I find it really, really helps. Don't know if it will help in real humid weather, but you might want to try it. And hey, just think... you could be one of those people in Seattle, freezing their buns off at 78 degrees :)

Yeah, I'm feeling your pain here in Dallas, too. Geez it's hot. I really need to exercise, but it's hard to get the motivation to do anything when it's so stifling.

Last night, Steve and I swam in the pool, and I swear it felt like warm bathwater. Not refreshing, but at least I can stand to exercise in it.

It is too hot. You can tell the heat affects everyone's moods, as well. Driving around and running errands in this heat is miserable.

Well, here I've been hopping all over creation trying to escape the heat -- and it has followed me! To Italy, to Canada...I am threatening to plan our next vacation in Antarctica, but then, on second thought, we "BIG OIL" people already wear the noose for global warming...I better not.

You guys should come over here in the afternoon. At least we have a shady back yard (you know, for the mosquitos.) and sprinklers. And a blender. Call me.
