First book

Tonight Colin chose to "build towers" with his blocks for 5 minutes before bedtime, instead of reading a book. Once the timer went off, he changed his mind (of course). We said we were sorry, but that was his choice, and sent his sorry ass to bed (literally).

Anna chose to read books instead, and picked an easy one and a challenging one. "I'm going to read this one to you," she said, holding the challenging one.

She faltered on the title page. "How about you read me this one first, then I'll read this harder one to you?" I offered. She agreed.

Then Anna read this book from cover to cover. And not just from memory! She certainly knows the rhythm of good ol' Dr Seuss, but she sounded out the words!

I always knew Anna would be a good reader. I've told her when she's a big girl and can read by herself, we'll go to Starbucks together and sit and READ. Today, I knew my dream would come true!

How great! I always knew Anna was a brilliant child.... Reading at Starbucks sounds like fun, but what about reading at Barnes and Nobles in the big cushie chairs? They also have a Starbucks section.........=)

XOXOXOXO!

I'm with Bevie, but then I'm a coffee ultra-snob and I do not like Starbucks much (wincing at the judgement coming my way from the Pacific NW) I do like reading, and I love the wonderment I feel as a mom when my monkeys reach a new rung on the ladder of mental accuity. Anna sets the pace. Aim high, little monkey.

In other news...Ehhh! Go Italia! Italy is kicking the Ukraine's keister right now. Macchina horns are going off because Italia just scored again. Football craziness abounds here in ROMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's exciting! I love to read! I am so proud of Anna! I know she will be a good reader too! --- She enjoys books. I can't wait to see you all very soon! Muchos Besos!

Get ready to get a crash course in Spanish. I am thinking when I return I will only speak Spanish to your kids - only English for very important things. I am so excited to teach y'all what I have learned!

Yaay, Anna! Learning to sound out words is the key to being a really good reader--watch her take off now!

Anna is clearly a genious. But not that weird kind, cause she's is incredibly sweet and generous, too.

I love kids who love to read! "Ten Apples Up On Top" was a staple at our house, although my favourite book was "A Fish Out of Water". My mother says she got very tired of reading it to me, so I guess it was good I eventually learned to read it by myself.

Hope your family will enjoy a great 4th of July. Guess you'll find out how Francesca feels about fireworks, huh?
