Goodbye Faithful Friend

We euthanized Montana today. It was an agonizing decision, but she was mostly already gone. She was ready to go, even if we weren't ready to see her leave.

I've cried so much today my face aches.

Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't grow up with pets, and don't have one yet (a dog is on the horizon), but I am so sorry.

Jenn -- reading your post reminded us how hard it was to lose our dog Cassie. Hang in there; Montana knew you loved her.

As I sit here reading these goodbyes and nice sentiments, I couldn't help start crying again. Colin chimes in, "Oh, Daddy's sad. Poor Daddy". Anna replys, "I'll get you a kleenex." They are so good for me right now.

I have never met you,Anthony, but I feel for you too...tell the children that A.Norma says Montana is happy now in Doggy Heaven playing with all the other pets...at least that is my belief..xx

Monatna's life brings back so many fond memories: throwing slimie squeakie toys, receiving unconditional love, watching her patience as each kiddo came home from the hospital, and tolerating being used as a climbing object.

Montana you were so very loved and we will miss you and your loving ways.

Hang in there Jenn and Anth!

Love-Bevie

I'm so sorry about Montana. I've read your blog for some time now and followed her tale so closely that it feels as if I know her. As a matter of fact, my partner and I were watching TV last night and during a commercial I started telling her that Montana had been through a bad spell but seemed to be doing better. I didn't even have to explain who Montana was... she's just one of our blog favourites, whom we discuss as if they're part of our family, too. I wish peace for Montana, and peace for your family as well.

Jenn, we are all so sorry about your beautiful Montana, it is so unbelievably sad seeing someone you love slip away from you, try to be strong and know that Montana is at peace. We are thinking of you all, even though it probably doesn't feel like it at the moment it will get easier with time. You are very brave. Love and Hugs XXXXX

I will miss her sitting in the doorway of the Dr.'s office. It just didn't feel the same to see you without your faithful pup by your side. My heart goes out to you and your family. Her spirit will live on in our hearts forever. Good bye Sweet Montana Blue Sky. I am glad I got the chance to spend some time with her.

Letting them go is so incredibly hard. My heart goes out to all of you. Montana was one lucky dog to have been a part of your family.

Montana was a good dog. She was always submissive with the kids and would shake all over if anyone gave her a little attention. She was particularly patient with my Patchie when the tiny 3.5 pound (equally small brained) idiot would run at Montana and bark in her face. With one swipe of paw or a single clench of maw on the annoyance Montana coulda ended the harrassment for ever. But she didn't.

She could grin too! And her tail was a built in duster. She loved the kitchen, taught by Terlingua how to scavenge for crumbs and handouts, but knew the command "no dogs in the kitchen" and immediately scarpered to the hallway adjacent to the kitchen so as not to be too far from the action-- read food.
I loved to see her obedience. After T was gone Montana was the only family dog who would pay attention to my commands. Patch can't even respond to "come Patchie" unless there's a bribe involved.

We'll miss her a lot. Good faithful dog.

It's so damn hard letting them go, even when you know they're ready.

I lost a beloved cat 7 years ago and it still can make me cry thinking about her. But I also feel lucky to have had her to love, and to have those memories to cherish. And I know that you and your family were very very lucky to have had a wonderful dog like Montana.

I'm thinking good thoughts for you, Jenn.

Just a thought ,Jennifer...did you know that there is a Clematis (soon to be in flower) named Montana? it's a pretty little pink flower that will climb forever round a doorway or an Arch..if you can buy it in the States it would be a lovely memorial for Montana. xxxx
