Its the first tomato of the season! A Porter, a small, pinkish, reliable producer.
I picked this one on May 1, 2011. It was 91 degrees. A few minutes later, a cold front came through, and it plunged to 66. Today it was rainy and cold, in the 50s all day. I loved it -- we need the rain, and I opened up the windows to air out the house.
Still, a tomato, already! Eat your heart out, Colorado and Maine! (jk!)

It's still too early for is to plant until Memorial Say. Enjoy your tomato, and the Maine-like weather!
Yeah, our rule is no planting before Mother's Day. On the other hand, it is 58 degrees, sunny t-shirt weather here. Sixty-six is cold?
You'll be wishing you were here in August and September!
I am trying out fun new varieties over here; one is even called, fittingly, San Diego. They look promising and seem happy after being fed chicken poop. How do you prevent blossoms from dropping off yours, though? THat seems to be my problem no matter where I go...and I would like to remain organic...
