Mas on Espanol

Update on the Spanish class: we finally got an email from the instructor at 11 pm last night stating she wasn't going to use a text, but was going to get some handouts from websites. She felt sure that we all had textbooks on Spanish from college or previous sources, and asked us to dig those out and bring them to the next class to prepare.

Then at 5 pm we got an email from the informal class administrator, apologizing for the confusion, and saying we would have a new instructor who had taught the course before, and that a make-up class would be added.

The saga continues...

It sounds like that other teacher really was not prepared to teach the class. Having you dig up old textbooks that you may or may not have kept? That is just unprofessional.

Well good. Wonder how many frustrated comments they received before they made that decision? Uno, dos, tres, quatro, cinco...dos miles?

Hope it gets better!

Sounds frustrating! I recently bought introductory Spanish course from Rosetta Stone. I haven't set aside enough time to practice/go through the lessons on a regular basis, but am impressed with what I have tried so far. It's entirely different than trying to learn language within the structure of a classroom.

If the class doesn't work out, you might try another approach!

That is crazy. Clearly, she had no teaching experience, or even a clue as to what she should be doing with people who PAID MONEY to take a class to learn something! I hope that it turns out better than it started!

And if it doesn't, you can take off all your preppy clothes. Spanishly.

What is spanish for dizzy? More drama than a mexican soapopera. Next, on uglybetty.... meanwhile back at the ranch, the spacecowboys find a new use for barbed wire, but wait, the monsterdogs still have no gravytrain! Where will the gorillas sleep next? on nature. Does it seem like PBS kids is turning into another marketing scheme to sell toys? Where will it all end? en espanol, s'il vous plait.

Wow! Dig up your old text books??? That's pretty stupid, if you ask me. I live off my french text book, and cannot imagine recieving only hand books in class to teach you about verbs, what if you have more questions, what if you are unsure? Did that lady plan on having office hours? What if you loose your handouts? Yeah...I am glad you are getting a new teacher - what a load of bs!

I hope things get better for you both learning Spanish, trust me, it's a very, very valuable language to learn, and I hope it all goes well for you in the future.

Maybe I will write my comments in simple Spanish to give you guys some pratice!!! :)

Buena Suerte y espero que todo este bien!
